GOINGS ON ABOUT TOWN
DAMIAN LOEB - Has this brash young neophotorealist grown up at all since his widely panned debut show last year? Well, yes. Loeb has cut back on the newsreel-style bloodstains and explosions and gone for even more sinister stuff. Strung together, Loeb's five new canvases suggest a Technicolor film noir: the protagonist, a nubile Asian high-school student, goes on a road trip, visits some forlorn motels, makes a frantic phone call, then winds up as roadkill. Not exactly a thought-provoking narrative, but the sheer slickness of Loeb's rendering skills has a certain lowbrow glamour. Through Feb. 12. (Boone, 745 Fifth Ave., at 57th St. 752-2929)
